How cool it would be to make improvised poetry and music meet together in a salon soirée? Did you ever wonder how a brand newly written piece by Schumann would sound for the first time? Did you know woman ran and performed on many of the Salons in the XVIIIth and XIXth Century in Europe? Did you always feel confused by classical music and want to engage in conversation with audience members and musicians after a concert?
All of that is Ossian’s Dream, a flexible ensemble playing XVIIIth and XIXth century music with historical instruments, committed to rediscovering and presenting on a new light well-known and lesser popular chamber music repertoire through performance practise, interdisciplinarity, cross-over and new concert formats.
1st prize winners of the International Van Wassenaer Competition 2025, of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Ensemble Competition 2024 and finalists of the UBS Jeunes Solistes Prize 2025, the ensemble has already performed in various locations in Switzerland and Europe, and its members are frequent collaborators to renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Freiburger Barockorchester, Kammerorchester Basel, Les Concert de Nations-Jordi Savall, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, La Cetra Baroque Orchestra, and Il Pomo d’Oro.
To achieve it, Ossian's Dream acts as a flexible ensemble, which plays in different constellations in a same or in different concerts. Its founding and main members are: Jaume Guri and Léa Al-Saghir (violins), Anne Sophie van Riel (viola), Martin Egidi (cello), Claudia Reyes (clarinet) and Pau F. Benlloch (keyboards).
The painting by Dominique Ingres gives us a good excuse to enchant you with the ancient songs of Ossian, our favourite Celtic bard, and invite you into our world of mystery, invention, ambiguity and intimacy through art.
